Medicine - Associate Professor, Contingent Term (Family Medicine)

The Department of Family Medicine (www.calgaryfamilymedicine.ca), in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, invites applications for an Academic Family Physician – Clinician Educator, Contingent Term appointment at the Associate Professor level.
Qualifications required include a MD, certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada, eligibility for licensure through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and eligibility for privileges with Alberta Health Services. Applicants must present evidence of involvement in Indigenous healthcare system initiatives, must show evidence of strategic, collaborative, and community-engaged leadership that has advanced Indigenous Health in Alberta, and demonstrate scholarly activity. Applicants should provide evidence of successful teaching and demonstrate evidence of expertise in mentoring Indigenous students and colleagues. Scholarly interests must align with at least one of the Department of Family Medicine’s research pillars: Indigenous Health, Health Services, Health Equity, and Medical Education. The successful candidate will be expected take on a significant leadership role in the Cumming School of Medicine’s Indigenous, Local, and Global Health Office, and contribute to leadership in the Department of Family Medicine. They will have a history of collaborative leadership in Indigenous Health, the ability to develop partnerships and relationships, and engagement with Indigenous communities. They will have demonstrated a commitment to Indigenous community service with a strong understanding of Indigenous community engagement protocols and processes. The successful candidate will participate in teaching in undergraduate medical education (UME), postgraduate medical education (PGME), and academic programs. Contribution to scholarship will be determined in collaboration with the Department Head. The successful candidate will also provide clinical primary care in Indigenous Health in the community.
