VIU is implementing a series of changes to strategically align resources, enhance flexibility, and improve accessibility for all learners. These changes will build on VIU’s vision of building responsive, regionally relevant, high-quality programs. The first change, as evidenced by this role, is bringing together the Faculty of Academic and Career Preparation (ACP) and the Faculty of Education under one Dean.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic, the Dean, Faculties of Education, and Academic and Career Preparation provides strategic and innovative leadership as its chief academic and administrative officer. As a member of the senior management team, the Dean works in collaboration with academic leaders, senior administrators, and other key stakeholders to implement and proactively advance VIU’s Strategic Plan and objectives. A key mandate for the incoming dean will be to explore the future administrative structure(s) of these faculties.

As the successful candidate, you bring an internationally recognized track record as an educator and researcher, with 3 to 5 years of experience in an academic leadership role such as department chair, associate dean, dean and/or equivalent experience in the post-secondary sector. You are a visionary leader, with significant change management experience

The salary band for this role is $134,660 to is $186,150. The hiring point is typically $163,812.
